HEEeee'sss BBBBaaaaccckk!.
OK!, so here's the deal. I know how great Tiger woods is, always have, But after he rallied for another victory (his first post op) as he continues on his quest to becoming the greatest golfer EVER!, I had to ask myself this question. Is Tiger the greatest athlete in sports today?. I don't want to say ever to that question cause for one thing it's a very broad scope when thinking of the question on that level. There're just too many great athletes in history to even suggest that a golfer (no disrespect intended) is the greatest ever. But i do think there's a case to be made for him to stake a claim as the greatest athlete today. In my mind, the only two people in sports today who share tiger's killer instinct are, kobe bryant and lebron james. These two guys are like trained assassins who know when to attack their prey with that final deathblow. Tiger is certainly in that class. he smells blood & then go in for the kill. It doesn't help the others on the tour that most of them are already INTIMIDATED by the spectre that is woods. Tiger's intensity level reminds me of two other athletes who may be the GREATEST ever in michael jordan & lawrence taylor. Name me two other men who were as intensed as those two & ALSO had the seek & destroy ability that #'s 23 & 56 had. TYSON?, yeah, he had it for awhile, but we all know what happened after buster douglas. ray lewis?. Yeah his intensity might very well match MJ & LT, but his physical ability doesn't come close to either. Tiger's does, but in a very different contrast. For one, he plays a cingular sport where's the other two played a team sport. Two - I don't think tiger's competion is on the same level as MJ & LT when they played. I also believe thats why LBJ & kobe are ahead of him as well. the competion in the nba right now is probaly as good as it's been since the late 80's early 90's during the jordan run. Same in the nfl during LT's heyday in new york with the giants during the early 80's thru early 90's. That's to take nothing away from tiger. But the times are what they are. Tiger's comp is simply not on kobe's, LBJ's, jordan's or LT's. But i still think he's the greatest golfer ever. The final four is set & who would've thought michigan state would be one of the four?. Big ups to Tom Izzo for again directing his team into the four team final dance. Unless i'm wrong, i think it's his third trip in the last five years. Nice job. looks like John calipari is heading to the bluegrass state. Word on the strip (everyone says street) is he's closing in on an eight year 35 million dollar deal. Well if it's true, then kentucky may have finally righted the wrong they commited in firing tubby smith a few short years ago. Tuesday is the day for Plaxico Burress to began the process of salvaging his career with the New York Giants. The talk is no plea deal has been reached, so Burress lawyer will seek to have an adjournment to give the burress team & the D.A. more time to structure a suitable deal for both parties. It says here that Burress WILL do some sort of jail time, But i think he'll suit up for Big Blue in 09. When you look at the moves the Giants made in free agency, combined with 11 picks in the upcoming nfl draft, & Burress on the field. ON paper, & with all due respect to the world champion steelers, The Football Giants ARE the team to beat this upcoming nfl season. And don't forget, they get back a healthy Osi Umenyiora. That's SCARY!.

Did you see what i didn't.
- What a GREAT! big east tournement game between syracuse @ Uconn, a game that went through SIX overtimes before the orange slipped by the huskies 127-117 in a game that will go down as one of the GREATEST in big east (if not all of college basketball) HISTORY. It really showed the true character of syracuse to finally take the lead in the finally final overtime. Truly one of the great games in recent memory. TOO BAD i missed all of it. I'd be the first to admit that i was fixated on LBJ & the cleveland cavaliers taking down the san antonio spurs. And with all due respect to the Kobe & Wade supporters out there, Lebron James IS The MVP of the nba. The King had another triple duece last night, & is simply toying with the cavs nightly opponents. Right now, there is NO ONE in the entire league (maybe all of sports) who can match this kid's physical & mental makeup. INDEED!, LBJ is a beast. Two things that have me scratching my head today... 1) HOW! can colin cowherd of espn say the big east is the least between them & the acc?. DUKE, UNC, who else?. Look up & down the big east schools. I don't even need to name them, but you tell me when is the last time a game such as last night was played in the ACC?. Keep in mind pittsburgh beat Uconn, TWICE! never mind talking about marquette, Louisville, providence, west virginia, & so on. Sorry herd, but your point is about a valid as those who like to say JAG-WIRES as opposed to JAG-UARZ!. Last i looked, there's still no I in that word. Speaking of JAG- UARZ (jamie contrary dukes) did any body noticed That WR matt jones violated terms of his probation because he was caught consuming alcohol?. If ROGER GOODELL want to keep his credibility with the players & union, he has to suspend this guy HARD!. Half a season at least. ( if not the entire 09 season) You can't lay down hard fines for guys in one instance, then look the other way in others. He must come down hard on marshawn lynch too!. TERRELL OWENS is already at it in buffalo. Second year receiver james hardy previously wore #81. He now wears #84. Now keep in mind T.O. didn't say anything to hardy in regards to the number. But he didn't have to. I wonder if the bills threatened, i mean discreetly informed hardy that 81 is no longer his. AGAIN! here's someone ( god bless ralph wilson) placating to owens whims & wants. Can't wait for week eight, when the bills are out of contention & the cold is moving into western new york. Hey!, the article is over & we haven't spoke on A-ROD!. Well, his surgery went well. (We must point out he only had an arthoscopic procedure) The Full surgery will take place after the season is over. I think it'll do both he & the yankees some good for him to be out of the limelight for a little while. HEY COLIN!, did you see the four number one seeds in the field of 65? Three of the four (pitt,Uconn, louisville) are all from the BIG EAST!. How's that for your big least?. Has anybody noticed, or am i the only one who realized that if the united states lose on sunday to the netherlands, they're out of the WBC. Oh well, the yankees begin play soon anyway. And for all of those coming down on JAY CUTLER for his stance against baby faced Mcdaniels. Keep in mind, he is the face of the denver broncos, not mcdaniels, & We still don't know how this whole thing was handled. My money says if mc 'd' has any of his mentor's persona, then my guess is cutler's dead on in his stance against darth vader Jr. Well, the draft is fast approaching. my guess is that matt stafford will not be the number one pick. Look for the LIONS TO make the right move & select curry (the LB from wake forest) as the number one overall pick. Well, That's it for me, time to go feed the fam. will be back on later this week.

What a WEEK!.
- Have you recovered yet?, I know i haven't. This has to be one of the weirdest weeks in sports for the month of march in awhile. So many things going down, where should i begin?, A-ROD, T.O., MANNY?. Well since i'm a native new yorker, we might as well start there with (A-ROD) the biggest lightening rod in sports. The yankees 2008 season ended in disappointment with the team failing to make the playoffs & rodriguez (albeit slightly) complaining of discomfort in his hip. Fast forward to april 2009 & the revalations about steroid use by a-rod in the early 2000's surface. That FIRESTORM engulfs the yankees as they arrive for spring training with questions again being raised about their prolific third baseman. The World baseball classic begins & you'd think the media's & fans focus would/should be on that event. It is, But not in the fashion they should be. Now!, the question comes into play... WHY would A-rod play for the dominican team when he in fact was born in new york & raised in florida?. That sets off another round of darts being thrown at this polarising figure. But wait!, it doesn't end there. A few days into the dominican team's practice, A-rod complains of that same hip that was bothering him back in september. SURPRISE!, he pulls out of the WBC. Much to the dismay of his dominican teamates who (again SURPRISE!) you begin to here whispers that they believe that this is a ploy of rodriguez to back out of his commitment to the team so he can appease his american contemporaries & supporters. Even after A-rod was initionally diagnosed with the torn lebrum, doubts ensued that he was JAKING it. Only after word begin to spread that he might miss some serious time with the yankees this season did that talk begin to die down. But across the new york air waves & some national too!, A-rod still was getting bashed for waiting to the last minute to have his injury addressed. A-ROD has his WARTS, but it seems that even when he's not LITERALLY at fault for something, he's at fault for SOMETHING. Not to be outdone in the spotlight however is none other than A-rod's fellow dominican new yorker, MANNY RAMIREZ. In one word, you can describe the calculated move ramirez & his agent scott boras tried to use on the dodgers...OOPS!. Now the working man realizes that the typical athlete & their agents are Oblivious to the current economic crisis. But How are you going to parlay what manny did in the second half of the 08 season (as great as he was) into a 4 year 100 million dollar contract with the dodgers?. Manny will be 37 years old when this season is in mid stream, & he's not the all around player that truly warrants that kind of consideration. Plus when you hear all of these CEO'S getting golden parachutes in the 10's of millions when the average family is losing their jobs & homes at an alarming clip, you have to wonder. does these agents have any clue to REALITY?. Then!, after manny does finally sign the 2year deal that the dodgers wouldn't (kudos to them) budge on, he states that due to the ravages of the economy, he's GIVING? L.A. the home team discount. You are making in excess of 22 1/2 million dollars a year for two years & you're giving a discount?. WOW!, I think we'd all like that kind of discount from people we employ. And for those who want to point out the 100 million dollar contract that Albert Haynesworth received from the redskins, keep in mind that nfl contracts are strucuted totally different than those of mlb players. While 100 million ducats sound plentiful & good for A.H., the contract is in actuality a 4 year 41 million dollar deal. steal, that's NOTHING to sneez at. the redskins now just have to hope BIG BOY continues to play like he did in the two years prior to his windfall & not like the first four before that!. watching PITT take it to UCONN... AGAIN!. Think jim calhoun might want to reconsider his non giveback now.? it seems his huskies are ready to give back their number one ranking. And this kid BLAIR!, he might not be that tall, (6'7) but i think we'll see him on the next level. Speaking of the redskins, does anyone there have my phone number? it's 770-573-#@&% . I have a WR i want to sell ya. He's going on 36 years old & he thinks he loves him some him. UNFORTUNATELY, It seems nobody else does. I figured the COWBOYS was going to cut ties with Terrell Owens, but to do it in such an unceremonious fashion took me by surprise. No big press conference from Jerry Jones. No bowls of popcorn to T.O. as a going away present. NOTHING!. Just goodbye. Now one would think that a boatload of teams would be chomping at the bit for his services; However, according to espn's chris mortensen, NOBODY In the NFC wants him. Saints HC Sean Peyton even went as far as to point out T.O.'s faults on live radio down in new orleans. Of course at some point someone WILL pick him up. I just find it interesting how that scenerio might play out considering the likelyhood that for the first time in his career, T.O.'s next team might come down to a choice that's VERY reflective of his personality.... Totally out of his CONTROL!.
POSTSCRIPT: As of 6:30 pm Terrell Owens signed a one year 6.25 million dollar contract with the BUFFALO BILLS. This took place saturday night 3/07/09. This deal was apparently the brainchild of 90 year old bills owner Ralph Wilson. FYI- T.O. doesn't face ANY of his former teams this upcoming season. He does however face rival Randy Moss... TWICE!.
